The Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control (Department) has completed its review of CL&P's plan to install advanced meters. On December 19, 2007, the Department issued a Final Decision on the plan.
CL&P had proposed to invest over $275 million in an advanced metering system. The Department rejected CL&P's proposal and instead ordered CL&P to study advanced meters and to conduct a rate pilot to determine customer acceptance of innovative rates, such as time-of-use and other real-time pricing schemes.
In a filing dated March 17, 2008, CL&P submitted a proposal to conduct the meter study and rate pilot.
The Department conducted a Technical Meeting to review the proposed study. Based on the review at the Technical Meeting the Department directed CL&P to submit a revised proposal. In a filing dated April 15, 2008, CL&P submitted its revised proposal.
In a letter dated May 2, 2008, the Department issued its approval for CL&P to move forward with the meter study and rate pilot. The approval required CL&P to slightly modify its revised proposal. Follow the links below for information on this subject.
