QUICK TIPS:

LOWER YOUR HOME’S THERMOSTAT IN WINTER...
to 68 degrees and raise it in summer to 78 degrees. Or install a programmable thermostat that you can program to match your own personal schedule. You’ll save 10%-15% on your heating and cooling costs.

LOOK FOR THE ENERGY STAR® LABEL...
when you buy lighting, appliances, electronics, and heating and cooling equipment. The energy bill savings will more than pay for the extra cost of the products over their lifetime.

REPLACE INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULBS...
with compact fluorescents (CLFs) that last 10 times longer. Changing just one 100-watt bulb to a CFL can save you more than$90 per light on electric bills over the bulb’s lifetime.

CHECK THAT YOUR FRIDGE DOOR IS AIRTIGHT...
by closing a dollar bill halfway in the door. If you can pull the bill out easily, you may need to replace the seal. Your refridgerator accounts for some 25% of your electric bill.

CHECK FOR DRAFTS AROUND WINDOWS & DOORS
Caulk, weather-strip and install foam gaskets behind outlet covers. You can save up to 10% of heating or cooling costs by insulating and sealing ducts.
