  • Connecticut requires that a percentage of the electric generation provided to Connecticut consumers be produced from renewable energy sources such as solar, hydropower, landfill gas, fuel cells, and other similar sources.  For 2012, the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) is 16%% increasing to 19.5% by 2015 and 27% by 2020.
    Annually, the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) reviews CL&P, UI and Connecticut's electric suppliers' compliance with the previous years' RPS requirements.  Compliance with the 2009 RPS is currently being reviewed under Docket No. 10-09-06 - use the link below to access the information in Docket No. 10-09-06.
